"Chris Amon MBE"

Chris Amon MBE

(1967 Monaco Grand Prix)

Having started 1967 with victory at the Daytona 24 hour race with Ferrari team mate Lorenzo Bandini, Chris Amon's first F1 race with Ferrari was at the 1967 Monaco GP., where team mate Bandini, whilst fighting for the race lead, clipped a kerb and his Ferrari overturned, and caught fire. Chris Amon passed the scene many times, not realising his team mate was still in the wreckage and fatally injured. He went on to gain a third place podium finish, and, after a long career, was often described as one of the best drivers to never win a World Championship.
